Gaudí's first house
Casa Vicens is Antoni Gaudí's first major work, built between 1883 and 1885 in Barcelona as a summer home for Manel Vicens i Montaner. Considered a landmark of modernism, it stands out for its innovative architecture that mixes oriental, Islamic and natural influences, elements that would later define the architect's style. Its glazed ceramic façade with floral motifs and its exposed brick structure create a unique visual effect. Inside, each space reflects Gaudí's ingenuity with ornate ceilings, sgraffito and integrated furniture.
After decades of private use and various modifications, it was acquired by MoraBanc in 2014, restored and opened to the public in 2017. Today, Casa Vicens is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an essential testimony to Gaudí's beginnings.
