Discover the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya: from the best medieval art to modernism
Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of art at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona. The MNAC houses the world's finest collection of Romanesque mural painting, which, together with its collection of Gothic art, make it one of Europe's most important museums for medieval art.
At the MNAC, you can travel through a thousand years of art history, from the 10th to the 20th century, with famous names of world-renowned artists such as El Greco, Rubens, Velázquez, Zurbarán, Fortuny, Nonell, Picasso and Dalí, among others.
It also houses an outstanding collection of modernist art: the Museu Nacional houses the largest collection of pieces signed by Antoni Gaudí, the greatest exponent of modernism, and his collaborator, Josep Maria Jujol.
Also, don't miss the rooms dedicated to art produced during the Civil War, which offer a unique perspective on this historical period. The modern art tour ends with the post-war period and the second avant-garde movements. The collection thus extends to the early 1980s.
Located in the majestic Palau Nacional, built for the 1929 International Exhibition, in Montjuïc Park, the MNAC also offers one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona from its 360º viewing platform.
