GO TO THE SITE

This exhibition, organized by the MNAC in collaboration with the Center Pompidou-Metz and the Musée d'Art of Nantes, reviews the figure of the artist Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938), an emblematic figure of the bohemia of Montmartre at the beginning of the century XX. Painter, draftsman and printmaker, Suzanne Valadon practiced all genres, from portraiture and nudes to still life and landscape.

The exhibition will bring together more than a hundred works, of which 48 can only be seen in Barcelona: oil paintings on canvas and cardboard, drawings and engravings, sculptures in plaster and bronze, as well as other documentary material that will allow for a retrospective and contextualized vision. of the career of a woman artist who had a relevant role in the Paris of the avant-garde, during the years 1910 to 1930. This vision is complemented with works by contemporary artists, French and Catalan, which give a good idea of the richness of the environment artistic of the time, while explaining the multiple interactions that occurred in avant-garde environments and the social conquest of the status of artist by a woman.
