Experience the Zoo!
Barcelona Zoo is one of the city’s most iconic places, an authentic biodiversity park that is home to over 2,000 animals and nearly 300 different species in natural spaces recreating their native habitats and set in an ebullient garden.
Today, the main activity of this centenarian institution is the preservation of threatened species, research and education on respecting nature.
The facility is housed on a 13-hectare site in the historical surroundings of the Parc de la Ciutadella, in the city’s old quarter, and is easy to get to on public transport. It opens 365 days a year from 10 am (see the website for closing times) and has two entrances, one inside the Parc de la Ciutadella itself and the other in C/ Wellington.
The wide range of education options at the Zoo includes free activities for the general public to complement a visit, to help us get closer to our natural environment, and to discover the work done by the institution and the care provided for its animals.
The Zoo offers its visitors a wide array of additional services to make for an unforgettable day.
